World Recycling Day: let's (finally) adopt good habits!

VertChezVous-Ecology

Reducing polluting waste by giving it a second life has become possible thanks to recycling. Faced with a 42% increase in plastic production in 10 years and the creation of a "7th continent", it is time to act! Less plastic would mean less recycling needed: sounds simple, right? What if each of us (finally) changed our habits to protect the environment and preserve natural resources? We give you some eco-friendly gestures to adopt to limit the use of plastic.

IN THE KITCHEN, I FORGET ABOUT PLASTIC PACKAGING

• I prefer bulk foods (beans, rice, pasta, almonds, dried fruit, etc.) using paper or cloth bags.
• I buy my meat, fish and cheese by the cut. Ideally, I bring my own container , but not plastic: glass jars, washable cling film or fabric bags, the choice is vast!
• I avoid fruits and vegetables that are pre-cut and packaged in plastic trays to avoid unnecessary waste.

A ZERO-WASTE BATHROOM

To replace plastic cotton swabs, alternatives exist: biodegradable cotton swabs, ear sprays, physiological saline, etc. But did you know that other products in your bathroom can be replaced?
• Soaps, shampoos, deodorants, toothpastes... I adopt my favorite products in solid form to reduce packaging!
• I change my plastic toothbrush for a bamboo one, I prefer my creams in glass jars, I use a wooden comb... It's more eco-friendly for the planet and what's more, it's trendy!

WHAT IF I DON'T HAVE A CHOICE? I'M RECYCLING!

If I have to use plastic, then I recycle ! There are several different plastics and not all of them are recyclable at the moment. We will have to wait a few more years for recycling plants to adapt their equipment. In the meantime, you can recognise and promote packaging to be recycled thanks to these symbols, present on the back of your products:

PET = Polyethylene Terephthalate.

Transparent, light and rather flexible plastic.
Bottles of water, sodas, fruit juices, cooking oil...

HDPE = High Density Polyethylene.

Opaque, rigid and strong plastic.
Bottles of milk, detergent, detergent, shampoo bottles...

To protect the fauna and flora and preserve our planet's natural resources, I reduce plastic or recycle it. It's up to you!
